Supplying enough stock doesn't create that sweet, sweet fomo that drives a lot of the sales.

FLGS are in a a bad spot, most will be running super heavy on GW stock as their main income 50% or more. This means if GW fails to deliver to you for a month 50% of turn over is gone this could kill most small buisnessesm to be sustainable shops need to be able to servive with out GW income. GW market share makes that a really hard thing to do.

Great analysis! I fully agree, you took a rational approach and went over your assumptions (50% avg, 25% under performing, 25% over performing). It’s not perfect but it’s as good as it can get from an external perspective.

Garbage take

The guy who runs My games workshop was really smart about it he did not order any of them. He basically just told people to order it online and they can come pick it up when it arrives. But that dude's always smart he runs the only games workshop in my entire state

GW creates artificial scarcity to keep their prices high for their models since now with 3d printers being mature are dirt cheap to make. One of the many reasons I have abandoned GW and their products.

I started playing 40k with a few minis in 1999 with 3rd edition and played thru 5th. I think 4th was very easy to play under but 5th was fine. Got out in college and sold all my armies at a loss. If I was ever going to get back in I would simply get 3d printed models and kit bash them myself. Love to paint the models most and make terrain but playing was fun.

I’d be all over this box if I wasn’t already invested in 40K. The skaven appeal to me so much but I don’t know when I’d ever play the game because I only get to play a wargame once a month or so.

There are so many successful TTG's that do not rely on store fronts. Think about it. GW is the ONLY game company that has these. I wonder if that is one of the things killing them and driving their prices up. If a release is received poorly such as a new edition of a game or box set, it's going to to be the store front that suffers the most because they ONLY sell GW product, whereas a FLGS can absorb the hit because they sell other games too.

funny thing is that if they simply lowered their prices to a more reasonable level, they would considerably increase their sales. More sales, even at a slightly lesser profit margin per sale is still a net profit. Lower prices make more money, but GW will never admit to that.

My FLGS still have like 15 dominion box in their stock, they just dont sell at all and looks like GW isnt even allowing clearance sale on those, so they're stuck with them For Skaventide, they're only going on order.

If youre a small buissness with a small following for aos, the reason you wouldnt pick this up is cause ypud have to buy, at minimum, 2 of the boxes. Thats nearly 300 dollars youre spending on product you dont know will nove or not.

For what it's worth, and I have no way to validate any of this...but my local GW store said what they consider NEW customer traffic is down at least 70%. (They quantify a NEW customer as someone that has not purchased or been in the store during the prior 3 months, so essentially a quarter). The last 3 times i've been in the store, which has been since Christmas of 2023, inventory within the store is down by half. That includes paints, codex's, named models, etc. As far as your question goes about where I'm spending my money, literally 100% of my model related budget has been moved to console gaming (not GW either)... I haven't purchased a GW model, or utility since buying a Astra Militarum Command Squad in November of 2023. It pains me to say it, but "out of sight, out of mind"... you begin to focus on other things, GW may not get a significant number of consumers back simply because they've moved on to something else.

I work in air shipping believe me companies like GW and like are contracted for bulk, standard overnight or 2 day air rates for them are between $8-$16 depending on what service they pick. For you the guy off the street rates are $25-$90 for same non priority rates. Gw prolly does millions in shipping with ups the million cost us they’re monthly ups invoice most likely

Here's the thing as a consumer i want to buy more models from them I want a cain model I want varient regiments to get I want vehicles from the lore I want more customizable parts more of the upgrades But GW isn't producing them. I can't buy what they don't make

I'm not buying it because i'm not interested in Stormcast. Should have done the same as the Old World launch. I wanted Tomb Kings but not Bretonians. Do a pair of boxes containing a single army either Skaven or Stormcast. Drop the price to reflect the reduced model count & you have a winner.

This isnt new, the whole point is for the local store to advertise for GW but always be short on the new hotness, so that you order from the online GW storefront where the conpany gets a larger cut of the sale.

Here in sweden you can get a plastic bag at most stores, but it costs like half a quid. Hasn't inconvenienced me at all, i just started bringing my own reusable bags.
